Johnson & Johnson have announced plans to cease supply of the Linx reflux system to the UK & Europe in 2026. As confirmed by the company, this has nothing to do with the clinical results or outcomes following Linx surgery, but is entirely a commercial decision. This is a surprise to surgeons in the UK who have seen excellent clinical results and an increasing popularity amongst patients. It is also unexpected given the ongoing GOLF trial which is a randomised trial comparing Linx to fundoplication (the traditional form of anti-reflux surgery) in the UK. Whilst discussions are on-going with J&J, there remains uncertainty as to whether this option will be open to patients beyond the spring 2026.
