Establishing consensus on symptom management after major cancer surgery

Prof Davies is the Chief investigator of two large studies aiming to achieve consensus on the investigation and management of symptoms after UGI cancer surgery. The key findings are:-

  1. Symptoms are common and affect quality of life
  2. Routine symptom monitoring may help to identify these issues and should be considered in all patients
  3. Investigation and management of the common conditions causing these symptoms has been agreed by expert (Delphi) consensus.
  4. Greater standardisation of monitoring and treatment should reduce healthcare inequalities.
